Housebreaking your puppy is essential, but what happens if you live in an area where it gets cold during the winter months? Let me tell you, nothing is worse than standing in the snow, while it’s snowing, waiting for your dog to do his business. I tripped on this step by accident, really. I told my dog to hurry up while she was a puppy - it was COLD outside, I was cold, she was cold, and she just did her business. Soon after, in the summer, I was in a hurry and told her she needed to hurry up. She immediately squatted and did her thing - huh, amazing, who new?

Step Five – Teaching Your Puppy To Go On Command
When you first see your puppy doing his business outside, say ‘hurry up’ to your dog, this will teach him that those words mean to go to the bathroom outside and soon they will be able to go on command. This may serve you well in the cool winter months or if you are in a hurry one day.
